  General

  Leonberger Standard Class  is an introductory course designed to educate the novice or advanced student in the appreciation and understanding of the intrinsic  qualities, type and structure of the Leonberger. Through the use of interactive digital tools, illustrative photos and drawings, and the AKC standard,  students can advance their familiarity and fundamental understanding of the breed standard. Upon successful completion of the integrated quizzes and educational exercises,  you will receive a Leonberger U Certificate of Completion.

  The Standard

  As adopted by the LCA and the AKC.

  

  Calm, gentle and sweet, the Leonberger excels as a multi-purpose working dog, but its most important task is being a reliable family companion. They are friendly dogs that are willing to please, making them excellent therapy dogs. Despite the breed’s lion-like looks and large size, the Leonberger is actually quite light on its feet and graceful in motion. They can be red, reddish brown, sandy, or yellow brown and have a black mask.

  The Leonberger is placed in the Working Group; AKC recognized in 2010.

    The Leonberger - An Illustrated Breed Standard is published by the Leonberger Club of America. It contains 32 pages of colored photographs, detailed illustrations and discussion of the AKC Leonberger Standard.
